AUTOGUARD HOOD LATCH PROTECTOR

WHO'S GUARDING YOUR HOOD?

Our new Autoguard stops unwelcome access to the engine compartment. With Autoguard installed, the hood cannot be opened with a screwdriver and the latch cable cannot be clipped with a wirecutter.

The Problem: Thieves want access to the vehicle battery to disable the alarm system. Using a screwdriver, a thief will simply pop the hood latch from the outside, then clip the battery cable cutting power to the alarm. The thieves are now free to remove audio, video and wheel accessories without interruption.

The Solution: Cover up your hood latch with Autoguard. Now no one can break into your engine compartment by popping the hood latch with a screwdriver. Autoguard was designed to work with the existing bolt holes, eliminating the need to drill new holes. And, Autoguard will not interfere with air circulation.

So Simple, So Efficient, So Easy to Install!

STEP 1: With hood open, remove plastic core-support cover by locating and removing all two-piece plastic lock pins. STEP 2: Remove grill assembly. Some applications may require removing anchor bolt(s). Remove as needed. STEP 3: With grille removed, locate hood latch assembly anchor bolt on left side (passenger), remove bolt.
STEP 4: Position AUTOGUARD over latch assembly aligning mounting holes with existing latch assembly holes. Insert provided anchor bolt(s) and finger tighten.
Note: With Cadillac Installation DO NOT insert anchor bolt on right side.
STEP 5: Attach hood release cable guard to AUTOGUARD. With threaded studs in an upward position, locate and insert through mounting holes (see 5-a). Guide release cable into the rear facing cavity of cable guard and secure with provided nylon lock nuts. HAND TIGHTEN LOCK NUTS, DO NOT TORQUE. STEP 5a: Cable guard with bolts installed.

PLEASE NOTE:

STEP 6: Note: Cadillac applications. Before completing step 7, the grille will have to be modified by cutting off plastic tab located on back side of grille near right side mounting hole. (see figure 7) STEP 7: CADILLAC INSTALLATION - Position grille for reinstallation and align mounting holes of grille & AUTOGUARD with existing core support hole. Insert provided anchor bolt and tighten. Please note: Before completing Step 7, on some models there may be a need for slight modification to the plastic core support or grille assembly before reinstalling the grille.
